Operation Broken Leg – Year 2013

Hello Fellow Riders;

Hoping you’re enjoying already the new year,  this is my ride report from my trip to Key West and Thanksgiving with my cuban compadres in Miami.

Leaving Lakeland in a very cold morning, got a computer notice on my bike saying my light is off, had to stop in Winter Haven thursday morning, find a AutoZone and buy the bulbs, was very cold, like 39f when leaving the house.

The ride down happen swell, nice South Florida stuff, learn some new roads (Canal Rd) that connect Clewiston with Billie Swamp Safari, weather epic, can’t ask for better one, get to Kendall in Miami around 1800 Hours, most of the time stopping for photos.

Operation Broken Leg

Thanksgiving night with Cuban Compadres, celebrating the cuban way, went to bed early, next day the alarm called at 0530 Hours, I was ready in around 45 min, hot shower, repack the gear on the bike and cuban breakfast, a hot cafe con leche, to charge the batteries, Key West was in the aim for the morning ride.

Leaving Kendal with a shitty morning, cloudy and windy, the whole ride to Key West I was zig-zagging all over the place because of the wing, hard time crossing the 7 miles bridge because of the wind. Key West was Traffic Crazy as road work was happening all over the city, heading to the Southernmost Point with an extra 15 min of traffic jam, then when over the site, TOURIST everywhere. NO PHOTOS this time, Kubano was angry, left for lunch and ride straight to Bahia Honda Park.

Bahia Honda Pano

After a good set of photos at Bahia Honda, time to head to camp site, Long Key State Park, good place for resting and enjoy nature.

Operation Broken Leg

Next day ride back to Miami, took Card Sound Rd and explored the northern part of the keys, great road with amazing view (watch video), in Miami around 1100 Hours, Miami Beach under road work too, traffic was a pain, hopefully my reach was pretty close, so no big deal in riding thru the traffic mess.

Leaving Miami/Hialeah sunday morning, getting the Beemer ready at 0700 Hours, bike packed and ready!

Operation Broken Leg

After leaving the Awesome City of Hialeah, Compass headed to Mitchell Landing over Big Cypress, good time and photos, then a quick stop at Loop Rd Creek, some photos and KSU in the next 30 min, ride to US41 and CR29 for gas, Fakahatchee Strand, Janes Scenic Rd and Picayune later, then Oil Well Grave and well…. you know the end of the Adventure.

No more to say, here is a brief of the ride, Video and photos, ride safe, wear your protective gear and Prosperous 2014 for all the riders.
